American Artist Herb Fillmore*, Signed, on lower right, this Marvelous Americana style Limited Edition Lithograph on lithographic paper, titled - "The Gazebo" and published in 1985, from his "The Good Old Days" series of images. The 'Frontier City Band', in uniform, stands ready under the gazebo in a park (then called Central Park - Pershing Sq. at 6th and Hill St.) in Downtown Los Angeles, c. 1888. So far, only a lone bicyclist (and check out that bike!), lower left, has arrived to listen. Beautiful color palette and sharp detail throughout! Signed and Titled as well as Numbered 271/450, on lower left.
Image measures 14 1/2 X 16 1/2 and is in Very Good to Excellent condition.
Paper measures 18 1/2 X 20 1/2 and is in Very Good condition.

HERB 'FILL' FILLMORE (1924 - 1999) - _ was born in Salt Lake City Utah, January 22, 1924. In 1941 Fillmore joined the Navy and served his country in the South Pacific, Central America and Panama. In the Navy he acquired the nickname Fill which stuck with him his entire life. Finishing his tour in the Navy, the soldier, returned to Los Angeles and entered Chouinard Art College where he finished top of his class. He always wanted to be an illustrator so with diploma in hand he began working for Lockheed. The next few years found Fill working at various advertising agencies as a commercial artist. His dream was to be a freelance artist and after acquiring the expertise needed from the various agencies, he struck out on his own and remained a freelance illustrator until he retired. Fill was a freelance illustrator for many large corporations such as McDonald's restaurant and Mattel Toys. Later in life Fill started painting things and places that he loved which turned into another business Fillmore Fine Prints. With his attention to intricate detail, Fill painted carousels, hot air balloons, trains, airplanes, and the Los Angeles area from days gone by. Herb Fillmore died in 1999._
