Matched Souvenir Mustache cup and plate China Ft. Scott KS General Karney HQ. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
Up for auction are two matched pieces of souvenir china from Fort Scott, Kansas, both titled "Gen. Karney's Headquarters Fort Scott Kas., 1846"
The first piece is a rare moustache cup, 3.5" bowl diameter and 2.5" tall, with floral decor, the second an 8" plate with floral decor. Both bear the same transfer image, but the plate's image is sepia whereas the cup's image is black.
Both show some staining and crazing (see pics). The plate shows no chips or cracks, nor does the cup.
I suspect both pieces are contemporary, and I'd guess 1910-1920 as a date of manufacture. Both pieces were made for and sold by J. P. Robens of Fort Scott KAS as written on the back of each.
