EXQUISITE ANTIQUE MUGHAL LOTA PITCHER
(Late 1600s - Mid 1700s)
Magnificent, Indo Persian copper pitcher. Featuring intricate hand hammered decoration covering nearly the entire surface. Stunning patina, dating from approximately 300 years ago. Exceptionally fine quality with scrolling vines and abundant floral decoration. Striking form, a work of great strength and well balanced proportion. Both artistic and harmonious in the traditional Indo Persian aesthetic. Created within the century following the completion of the Taj Mahal, one can see the similarities of design elements in the hand hammered decoration. Would have graced the abode of a very wealthy individual.
In excellent antique condition with a sublime patina and wear commensurate with age. Quite heavy, an indication the fine quality. Measures approximately 6.5 inches tall and 8 inches wide to the tip of the spout. Draws attention from all the way across the room. See photos for all of the superb detail.
A masterpiece of craftsmanship, rarely seen on the open market, representing the finest of the classic Mughal aesthetic. A sublime centerpiece for the discriminating connoisseur of world-class art and antiques.
