This is a very interesting Noritake two scrolled handle serving bowl with an unusual hand painted scene. This bowl has as its main decoration a marshland scene, the shoreline, water, two swans, marsh grasses, trees along the shore in the background. In the foreground are wispy gold moriage outlined poppies The border of the inside, a salmon color is set off from the rim of the bowl which has tiny beads of granulated gold lustre/luster. The scrolled handles are gold lustre as well. The piece is in excellent overall condition, with no chips, cracks, hairlines, fleabites or repairs. I seen no discernible flaws, though tere is a bit iof thin glazing on the handles which is a factory issue. It measures 6 7/8" wide from handle to handle and it is 3 3/8" high. It is marked on the bottom with the Noritake M in Wreath back stamp, in green, that has Nippon instead of Made in Japan which dates the piece to before 1911. I believe that this is backstamp # 21 in JVP's book on Noritake. White spots, if any, are camera glare. Successful buyer is responsible for shipping and insurance and payment must be received within ten (10) business days of the close of the auction or the sale may be voided.
