Alice Scott 1924-2005 One woman who found the beauty in tough times in Charleston. This painting is of one of the Women FLOWER VENDORS bringing smiles and love to Charleston. This is an awesome piece 6 5/8"×5"" from 1940"s it's very vibrant and just awesome there is a light line where matted before,Matt will cover that or they can fix that now its up to buyer an this in acution fixed or just matted an framed ,would be 850 to 2000 or more! This does not come with frame or matting. Alice Scott (1924-2005), one original unframed unmatted, signed painting of a Charleston Gullah Woman flower vendor on Rainbow Row . A collection of her paintings toured the United States and Europe with the opera Porgy 5 Bess. Alice Scott was born in Columbia, South Carolina, but grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, where she was active in both the theater and painting. She taught painting to both children and adults from her studio on Queen Street next to the historic Dock Street Theater. Her career in art included studying with Robert Brackman of the Art Students League in New York City and Hainz Warneke, Don Turano, and Richard Lahey of the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC.
