This is a clean and fully functional used example of a 26" Schwinn speedometer drive hub by Huret, Schwinn part number 08 466: a vintage speedo drive for 24" or 26" front wheels WITH BOLT-ON AXLES (not quick-release hub skewers), a nice long-arm example with black dust cap, repacked and in good working order. (In their original 26" speedo kits, Schwinn listed it as suitable for bikes with 24" wheels as well.)
Its drive ratio is 1:2.0. This drive is compatible with the chrome Schwinn Approved speedometers and drive cables (not included; see my other auctions for examples of those), as well as Huret-branded bicycle speedometers. (It does not fit the large, round, 3"-diameter Stewart-Warner speedometers.)
I'm also including an accessory hardware kit, containing:
* ONE 5/16" AXLE BUSHING (silver)
* FOUR INSTALLATION WASHERS, to be used to clear either the inner face of the front fork or the axle cone nut, as needed_ (New)_
* FOAM DUST RING SEAL_ (New)_
* PLASTIC DRIVE CABLE TIE STRAP_ (New)_
The two drive arms have a 4¾" (120mm) span, each extending 2 3/8" from the center of the axle hole, which is 7/16" diameter.
If using the plastic cable strap to secure the cable to the front fork, run it under very hot water first, so that it's pliable enough to get the head of the plastic locking pin through the hole in the strap.
This drive is in clean used condition and full working order. I packed it with some fresh grease, and it turns smoothly. I am also including a free scanned reprint of an original Schwinn instruction sheet to help you get it all installed.
