TONY LAMA BOOTS
1960s WHITE LABEL
GATOR BELLY
BROWN
X TOE- POINTED
SIZE 480 OR 8D
PREVIOUSLY WORN
Tony Lama cowboy, western boots. Alligator belly vamp and counter. Vamp color is natural brown, shafts are a peachy tan. Size 8 D marked as 480. Pointed "X" toe and #3 Tony Lama dress heel.
Boots are White Label boots that read "Made By Tony Lama, El Paso, TEX.' which dates them to the early to mid-60s based on the 3 letter state abbreviation. State abbreviations began switching to 2 letters beginning in October, 1963.
Vamps and counters are soft and pliable, alligator belly and have light wear overall. Vamps are the 3 piece, center seam style with a gator overlay. The overlays have some naturally darker areas that appears to be from aging. Spots are not near as dark and do not show up as much as the pictures bring out. Other than the spots there are a few light scuffs, rub marks etc but nothing serious.
Counters have some light driving wear and couple of light scuffs. .
The shafts are an orange tint tan color, have normal wrinkling and side piping looks to have light wear. Shaft of the right boot has a rub area on it toward the top on the inside. Not bad a hadn't noticed it until now. Tops of the shafts have a sawtooth type finish to the leather. Looks nice.
Soles have light even wear and no soft spots. These are dress type leather soles so not as thick as a regular cowboy boot. Heel caps show light even wear, no issues.
These are a really nice pair of original Tony Lama boots and in very nice condition for approx. 50+ yr old boots. A lot of quality wear left in this pair if a person want to wear them or add them to your boot colection for something a bit different. Check the measurements below.
Boots have been conditioned, edges dressed and are ready to wear.
We use shoe trees and shapers in the foot and shafts of the boots for the pictures to give you an idea of how they will look on your feet. Shoe/boot trees and shapers are NOT included in the sale or auction.
I have provided numerous pictures for your approval and to judge the overall condition.
