1961 VIBROPLEX BLUE RACER
SEMI-AUTOMATIC BUG
MORSE CODE KEY
Due to the impending relocation of my wife and I, I have decided to liquidate most of my 20-plus year collection of Morse code keys and will be listing them on eBay until sold.
I have for auction a very nice and in good condition 1961 Vibroplex Blue Racer semi-automatic key, otherwise known as a "bug."
This type of key was patented by Horace Martin just after the turn of the 20th Century to improve the ease and speed of operators to send Continental and Morse code.
The Blue Racer is a less commonly found model; it has a narrower base and the parts were scaled down in size as well. This example has the standard gray painted base common to all Vibroplex keys of this era. The base shows some minor paint loss as the accumulation of years of dirt.
The chrome parts are all in good condition, but need polishing. The finger pieces are homemade and not original. The key is missing the original weights, but has the original rubber feet. The adjustment screws need to be cleaned and oiled. The serial number plate is in perfect condition and only needs to be gently cleaned.
SHIPPING & HANDLING. The finger pieces will be removed before shipping and the pendulum will be secured. The key will be carefully packed to insure it arrives safely. The winning bidder pays $26.80 for shipping and insurance.
This items is sold as-is and no returns are accepted.
