Type Historic Golf Club Teapot
Brand International Silver Co.
This was a Detroit Golf Club teapot. The Detroit Golf Club was established in 1899 and its golf course was designed by Donald Ross. On June 28, 2019 it hosted the Rocket Mortgage Classic, the first PGA tour event ever held within the City of Detroit.
There is no date on the teapot but is almost identical to an International Silver Co. teapot (without the Detroit Golf Club markings) I found on ebay that is listed from the 1920's. The 1920's or 1930's would have been my guess.
The bottom of the teapot is engraved as such:
International Silver Co.
Detroit Golf Club
16 oz. AB
and on its side is the number "18"
The initials DGC are engraved on the side of the pot.
I have owned this for at least 20 years and believe I originally purchased it at a local auction, but it may have been at an estate sale. I had it on display at home originally, then put it away for many years, but took it back out and shined it up about a year ago when I first heard of the Rocket Mortgage Classic coming to Detroit.
Be the first guy on your block to own an original teapot from the first Detroit golf course to host a PGA event!
I have been an ebayer since 1997, so bid with confidence!
