This is an Amazing and Vintage 23" Tall Victorian Style FRAMED OVAL ART PORTRAIT PRINT OF FAMED LEGENDARY WOMAN, JENNY LIND, THE SUCCESSFUL AND HIGHLY REKNOWED SWEDISH OPERA SINGER WITH LOVELY DECORATIVE FRAME.
JENNY LIND (1820 - 1887 ) WAS SO GIFTED WITH HER EXCEPTIONAL SINGER VOICE SHE WAS KNOWN AS "THE SWEDISH NIGHTINGALE." And she gained so much notoriety and fame across Europe in the 1840's that she was personally invited for a successful U.S. Tour by P.T. Barnum of Barnum and Bailey's Circus fame for her own year-long singing tour across the U.S.A. in 1850-51 and she was considered perhaps the "FIRST Known CELEBRITY" in U.S. History.
JENNY LIND was as well known as a Singer in her time, as Amelia Earhart or Annie Oakley or Helen Keller were known and recognized for their talents. A remarkable woman.
This framed Art Piece has been framed as is for over 50 years now and has been in one ownership since.
It dates back approximately 55 to 60 years, but it is not known exactly how old it is... given the fact that Jenny Lind lived in the 1800's and was most popular then it could be older, but its unknown.
The framing measures approx. 23" high x approx. 19-1/2" wide and is a lovely oval shape.
The surface of the picture has some flaws, a small chip around 6 o'clock and some surface spots on the neck and on the garment around 7 o'clock and a couple other small spots so it is imperfect although the overall effect is quite lovely and dated looking piece which would fit in at a Victorian style B&B type arrangement especially in an early 1900's or 1800's home, and is a nice museum type piece, although has some surface mars as mentioned here.
Jenny Lind still lives in the fond memories of seniors who remember her impact on the world back in 1800's.. a quite impressive portrait frame with lovely frame, the frame is Not wood, and is some sort of unknown composite material.
Very classic look to this lovely framed piece, has a very amazing connection to the past and quite an extraordinary image or an extraordinary lady.
